Woodworks: the Last Word in Refined Rustic

You know the quote by iconic jeweler Harry Winston, “People will stare: make it worth their while”? Wait, you don’t? That’s okay. You’re still a good person. Anyway, being a diamond mogul and once-owner of the Hope Diamond, I assume Winston was talking about jewelry. However, I love this quote and have decided to hijack it for our journey today.

Are you still reading? Okay, good.

So let’s talk about frames worth a second glance or stare. Actually, go crazy and take some second and third glances–you know you want to! With their stunning new Woodworks frames, our friends at Nurre Caxton have redefined the look of wood moulding.  It’s the best thing to happen to natural woods since… well, the Shakers.

←Example of Shaker furniture for visual reference.

You’re welcome.

Let’s focus, though—shall we?

Who wants to talk about the Shakers when we have our new frames to obsess about?

No matter the style of your home, Woodworks will be at home anywhere, framing just about anything!  With rich, earthy tones that are closer to a color-wash than a stain, these new frames add a transparent touch of color, allowing all of the natural wood-grainy, finger-joined beauty to come through. It’s how woodsy-chic is done, you guys.

Are you seeing this? Gorgeous wood grain for days.

Just look at the subtle color variations on these frames! Enough said. (But I’ll say more anyway: that’s why we’re all here after all.) Woodworks’ profile is sleek and modern enough for all of you hip minimalists who think that natural wood frames are only for those Country Living fans.

(Sorry Mom—you continue to have amazing taste despite your lifelong subscription.

And all of you other Country Living fans? Again, still good people.)

Rustic, classic, eclectic, urban, contemporary, or undecided—Woodworks will help you celebrate your personal style. So get down to your nearest Hall of Frames store and see this simple, elegant, hand-crafted framing line. With a natural beauty that’s always in style, Woodworks is sure to make the walls of your living room, bedroom, den, hallway, kitchen… worth a stare.

So get creative. Get primitive. Get refined. Get inspired. Get our coupon

To sum up: GET WOODSY!

Color—It’s Always in Style.

It’s time to get colorful, you guys!
I’m so tempted right now to wax eloquent
with quotes about color: color in life, color in art,
color in framing, colorful writing, colorful people…
But I’ll hold back the philosophical floodgates because
it’s way too early in our blogging relationship for deep thoughts.
I know you agree.

“As an artist, I have always felt that the frame design truly completes the artwork and enhances the setting where it is displayed” -Jane Seymour

Besides, we are here to discuss our new spot of fabulous framing color here at Hall of Frames. I have two words about the designer and creative force behind this new frame series: Dr. Quinn—I mean Jane Seymour! If you don’t know who she is, I’m afraid we can never be friends.

Just kidding, I’m sure you’re still a good person.

Anyway, Jane Seymour—multiple Emmy® and Golden Globe® winning actress, recipient of the Officer of the British Empire (OBE) bestowed upon her by Queen Elizabeth II, author of 10 books, talented painter, jewelry designer…. As if that weren’t enough to keep her busy, prepare to be dazzled by her latest artistic endeavor which we proudly showcase at our Hall of Frames locations.

seaglass

“Tumbled into shiny jewels, sea glass evolves from various glass products that have found their way to the oceans throughout history… Enjoy this collection of distinctive colors and designs inspired by the beauty of sea glass found on the beaches of Malibu, Jane Seymour’s home and creative workspace for the last 20 years.”

For several years now, Jane Seymour has been getting wide recognition as a very talented artist, so it makes perfect sense that her creativity would segue into the realm of custom framing.

Partnering with elite moulding manufacturer Fotiou, Seymour has designed some truly beautiful mouldings that will not only enhance your art, but also offer a clear style direction to assist with the often-daunting task of selecting a custom framing design. Her combined love of art, color, and design was the driving force behind the moulding series exclusively available in the Jane Seymour Moulding Collection.

So if you are naturally drawn to color, as I think we all are (except for those unfortunate few years in the early 2000s when The Gap brainwashed the masses into wearing only black, grey, and khaki. Those were dark times, friends) Seymour’s new frame series called Sea Glass Treasure will transform your life! Or at the very least, your walls.

Look how well these glassy hues work with colors from any decor to create a cohesive theme in any room. Coming in at just under one inch wide, the Sea Glass Treasures series is the ideal choice for small art or colorful photo arrangements. Better yet, stack them inside a larger frame for just a hint of color! Whatever way you choose–I think we all can agree that everything looks better in color. So in case you missed it, or I have somehow been too subtle… Get down to your nearest Hall of Frames store and GET COLORFUL.

Good Will Toward Men

“Peace on Earth. Good will toward men.” Peace on Earth—lately it seems less attainable than ever before. Good will to men, on the other hand… well, that can be achieved every single day.  What if an abstract holiday phrase suddenly became a reality of our everyday existence?  What if “good will toward men” simply looks like

a little more compassion…

a few more smiles…

a bit more generosity…

a touch more kindness…

a willingness to give more, help more, love more.

I recently heard someone say that “our gift to each other this Christmas season, and all seasons really, should be to make ourselves people of good will.” In a creative business that is so driven by deadlines, by volume, by the next new design−it is so easy to lose sight of the significance behind the many projects entrusted to us. But in our corporate offices here at Hall of Frames, we see good will put into daily practice by the clients we serve.

Good will−an ideal best captured in a holiday song? Merry Christmas!

Frame the Moment

Screen Shot 2015-11-23 at 1.12.10 PM

Well, it’s happening. With Thanksgiving a few days away, the holidays are HERE, you guys! It’s that special time of year when it becomes acceptable to add pumpkin to every food and drink item imaginable, whether it belongs there or not. (No judgment, pumpkin-pie-flavored kettle chips. Okay maybe a little judgment. You were surprisingly inedible.)

Screen Shot 2015-11-23 at 1.59.07 PM

But questionable food choices aside, this time of year—more than any other—is when so many cherished memories are made. During this brief, sparkling window of time, the overused phrases “be present in the moment” and “live in the moment” become meaningful once again. Unfortunately, being present in the moment is only… well, momentary (#deepthoughts). Memories fade away more quickly than we’d like. ← Your multi-colored, always-dinging calendar app and endless trail of sticky notes tell you this is true.

Screen Shot 2015-11-20 at 9.45.16 AM

Our overworked, over-stimulated, overstuffed brains need constant little reminders of special moments. We need some tangible incarnation of those sweet, funny, warm, often-familiar-yet-always-extraordinary holiday moments.

Maybe it’s the cross-stitch that Grandma just knotted the last thread of. Maybe it’s the rare photo capturing the kids who all make it home this year. Maybe it’s the Playbill from the Nutcracker Suite in which your daughter was the most perfect Sugar Plumb Fairy ever. Why not make this the season that you frame a priceless holiday memory to last throughout the year!

For those times when it’s more than just a picture…

more than just a needlepoint…

more than just a theatre ticket…

more than just some snow…

Frame the feeling. Frame the magic. Frame the season. Frame the moment.

Hello, Again! Again.

So what’s new here at Hall of Frames? I’m really glad you asked. You see, we have finally finished our yearly reinvention of the Hall of Frames’ moulding walls. Sort of like The Great Wall of China, but with WAY more color and zero international travel, you know?

Their wall.

Our wall.

And this year we have made it better than ever: redesigning the stylistic flow, adding the best new frames of the season, and saying buh-bye to some outdated styles while maintaining the always-in-style-classics. Phew, that was a lot to type into one sentence, you guys. Can you even imagine the work that went into organizing 4000 moulding samples? You really can’t. But thanks for trying. Audience participation is always appreciated.

But let’s get back to the topic at hand, shall we?

NEW. FRAMES.

Get excited because for the next few weeks, months, years even (#optimism), we are going to pop in and tell you what new frames we’re currently obsessed with here at Hall of Frames. And maybe some tidbits about art, because hello! what goes better with frames than art? That’s right—nothing. I mean, except for beloved photos of friends and family of course. And custom mirrors naturally, which the Hall of Frames stores do so well and so prolifically. But I’ll save that topic for another post. “Gorgeous mirrors that are custom made for your home” makes a way better headline than byline, wouldn’t you say?

Excited yet? No? Wow, tough crowd. How ’bout some pictures of our spectacular new frame choices!

Okay, now you’re excited!  And speaking of excitement, (sorry, I’ll stop using the word “excitement,” as 5 times might be over the limit for a single blog entry), we are so excited looking forward to the holiday season and to making this blog informative, interesting, and maybe even a bit entertaining.  We have tons of thoughts to share with you! Some of them might even be about custom framing. Just kidding. Sort of.

style

We may even get crazy and throw in some decorating tips here and there. And random life observations… AS they pertain to art and framing. (← This is a business/PR/marketing tool after all, friends, not just another place for someone to accost the world with personal thoughts and feelings.) But sincerely and most importantly, we would love to engage with you all and hope that you will feel free to send some ideas our way. Maybe you have some framing topics you’d like to learn more about? Or you have questions about wall groupings, art, color, proportions, etc. Help us out, and leave some comments!

Ren-o-vated, And It Feels So Good

Screen Shot 2015-10-27 at 11.47.17 AM

New walls, new floors, new counters, new lighting, new frames, new energy. ←Please continue reading despite the fact that my opening sentence was a fragment. Well, it has been a long time coming, but Paradise Picture Frame–our store on the corner of Thunderbird and Tatum–has gotten a much-needed facelift this month. Do people still say facelift? Is that still a thing, or are we strictly calling it plastic surgery now? Anyone?

Screen Shot 2015-10-26 at 10.50.13 AM

It has been amazing and sometimes frightening (hello, irrational fear of ladders) to see our stellar sales staff and framers navigate the surrounding demolition rejuvenation to perform their creative magic on your artwork. Because you guys, closing down during construction is for amateurs. That’s right Starbucks down the road, I’m talking to you. You couldn’t even keep the drive-thru window open for us? I mean… a little drywall dust in the ol’ morning latte never killed anyone. I think.  #science

Oh and just to be clear, zero construction took place in our warehouse or framing production rooms. And no artwork was harmed in the process, in case you were concerned. You totally were. Admit it.

So I know you’re expecting some sort of shameless advertising right about now. Some “come on down! We have hot dogs and balloons and cookies” type of bribery. Mmm…cookies. But really, how did a free hot dog become the symbol of open houses, (open homes? no—definitely open houses) and business re-openings everywhere? Just asking the question. I mean no offense, Oscar Meyer.

Seriously though, stop by and check out our new look. Will it change the quality framing you’ve come to trust here at the Hall of Frames? Nope. But don’t we all feel better when we look better? Yes, we do. And don’t we have a new excitement and energy when we feel better? Absolutely. And don’t we… Okay, I’ll stop now.

In all sincerity, we look forward to serving you with the excellence that we have done for the last 40 years—only now in prettier surroundings. We echo the great poet Robert Browning in feeling that here at the Hall of Frames  “…the best is yet to be!” And with that said, onto some glamour shots of our new space.
