Frame the Moment

Screen Shot 2015-11-23 at 1.12.10 PM

Well, it’s happening. With Thanksgiving a few days away, the holidays are HERE, you guys! It’s that special time of year when it becomes acceptable to add pumpkin to every food and drink item imaginable, whether it belongs there or not. (No judgment, pumpkin-pie-flavored kettle chips. Okay maybe a little judgment. You were surprisingly inedible.)

But questionable food choices aside, this time of year—more than any other—is when so many cherished memories are made. During this brief, sparkling window of time, the overused phrases “be present in the moment” and “live in the moment” become meaningful once again. Unfortunately, being present in the moment is only… well, momentary (#deepthoughts). Memories fade away more quickly than we’d like. ← Your multi-colored, always-dinging calendar app and endless trail of sticky notes tell you this is true.

Our overworked, over-stimulated, overstuffed brains need constant little reminders of special moments. We need some tangible incarnation of those sweet, funny, warm, often-familiar-yet-always-extraordinary holiday moments.

Maybe it’s the cross-stitch that Grandma just knotted the last thread of. Maybe it’s the rare photo capturing the kids who all make it home this year. Maybe it’s the Playbill from the Nutcracker Suite in which your daughter was the most perfect Sugar Plumb Fairy ever. Why not make this the season that you frame a priceless holiday memory to last throughout the year!

For those times when it’s more than just a picture…

more than just a needlepoint…

more than just a theatre ticket…

more than just some snow…

Frame the feeling. Frame the magic. Frame the season. Frame the moment.

Hello, Again! Again.

So what’s new here at Hall of Frames? I’m really glad you asked. You see, we have finally finished our yearly reinvention of the Hall of Frames’ moulding walls. Sort of like The Great Wall of China, but with WAY more color and zero international travel, you know?

Their wall.

Our wall.

And this year we have made it better than ever: redesigning the stylistic flow, adding the best new frames of the season, and saying buh-bye to some outdated styles while maintaining the always-in-style-classics. Phew, that was a lot to type into one sentence, you guys. Can you even imagine the work that went into organizing 4000 moulding samples? You really can’t. But thanks for trying. Audience participation is always appreciated.

But let’s get back to the topic at hand, shall we?

NEW. FRAMES.

Get excited because for the next few weeks, months, years even (#optimism), we are going to pop in and tell you what new frames we’re currently obsessed with here at Hall of Frames. And maybe some tidbits about art, because hello! what goes better with frames than art? That’s right—nothing. I mean, except for beloved photos of friends and family of course. And custom mirrors naturally, which the Hall of Frames stores do so well and so prolifically. But I’ll save that topic for another post. “Gorgeous mirrors that are custom made for your home” makes a way better headline than byline, wouldn’t you say?

Excited yet? No? Wow, tough crowd. How ’bout some pictures of our spectacular new frame choices!

Okay, now you’re excited!  And speaking of excitement, (sorry, I’ll stop using the word “excitement,” as 5 times might be over the limit for a single blog entry), we are so excited looking forward to the holiday season and to making this blog informative, interesting, and maybe even a bit entertaining.  We have tons of thoughts to share with you! Some of them might even be about custom framing. Just kidding. Sort of.

We may even get crazy and throw in some decorating tips here and there. And random life observations… AS they pertain to art and framing. (← This is a business/PR/marketing tool after all, friends, not just another place for someone to accost the world with personal thoughts and feelings.) But sincerely and most importantly, we would love to engage with you all and hope that you will feel free to send some ideas our way. Maybe you have some framing topics you’d like to learn more about? Or you have questions about wall groupings, art, color, proportions, etc. Help us out, and leave some comments!

Ren-o-vated, And It Feels So Good

New walls, new floors, new counters, new lighting, new frames, new energy. ←Please continue reading despite the fact that my opening sentence was a fragment. Well, it has been a long time coming, but Paradise Picture Frame–our store on the corner of Thunderbird and Tatum–has gotten a much-needed facelift this month. Do people still say facelift? Is that still a thing, or are we strictly calling it plastic surgery now? Anyone?

It has been amazing and sometimes frightening (hello, irrational fear of ladders) to see our stellar sales staff and framers navigate the surrounding demolition rejuvenation to perform their creative magic on your artwork. Because you guys, closing down during construction is for amateurs. That’s right Starbucks down the road, I’m talking to you. You couldn’t even keep the drive-thru window open for us? I mean… a little drywall dust in the ol’ morning latte never killed anyone. I think.  #science

Oh and just to be clear, zero construction took place in our warehouse or framing production rooms. And no artwork was harmed in the process, in case you were concerned. You totally were. Admit it.

So I know you’re expecting some sort of shameless advertising right about now. Some “come on down! We have hot dogs and balloons and cookies” type of bribery. Mmm…cookies. But really, how did a free hot dog become the symbol of open houses, (open homes? no—definitely open houses) and business re-openings everywhere? Just asking the question. I mean no offense, Oscar Meyer.

Seriously though, stop by and check out our new look. Will it change the quality framing you’ve come to trust here at the Hall of Frames? Nope. But don’t we all feel better when we look better? Yes, we do. And don’t we have a new excitement and energy when we feel better? Absolutely. And don’t we… Okay, I’ll stop now.

In all sincerity, we look forward to serving you with the excellence that we have done for the last 40 years—only now in prettier surroundings. We echo the great poet Robert Browning in feeling that here at the Hall of Frames  “…the best is yet to be!” And with that said, onto some glamour shots of our new space.
